Intercity travel market in India

India Travel with Buses

There are 2 kinds of people: “Bus Kar Bhai” & “Bus Karade Bhai”

To all the people who use buses for intercity travel and to those who choose not to:

The ‘intercity travel market’ in #India is worth $30 Billion and half of that is the bus travel market. It’s growing at a faster rate than any other mode of #transport in the industry. However, just because it’s growing doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its own set of problems.

🚌 Unconsolidated Market: Every bus aggregator has to deal with discounting, cost cutting, delays & cancellations. All this leads to damaged credibility. Moreover, due to a lack of set standards, one might come across buses with poor maintenance, hygiene and safety.

It’s a bumpy ride, to say the least.

🚌 Unable to fill occupancy: With an average occupancy of 65% per bus, many buses aren’t filled up to their potential.

“Bus Bharde Bhai”

An Oyo for intercity travel should solve the trick. It would:

🚌 Consolidate and standardize operators under one platform
🚌 Plan smart so that buses are as filled as possible. Thereby, getting better returns
🚌 Make sure that it is safe and affordable to travel

Here is a slide we made for a company that is focused on becoming the Oyo of intercity travel. It shows how there is a definite gap in the intercity travel industry and therefore, a potential solution!
