Meet the man who makes 20 Lakh idlis and 40 Lakh dosas in a day:

PC Musthafa

3 core components that led to his success (which you can use for your startup):

1/ Trust

Musthafa built consumer trust by creating a superior product… but compromised on shelf life.

A steep but practical tradeoff.

iD batter lasts just 5 days, unheard of in the ready-to-cook industry.

Idli and dosa are a highly consumed product (shock). Swiggy claimed it delivered 122 dosas/min last year.

The point is – the more consumed a product is, the more conscious a consumer becomes.

So when a better-for-you product entered the market, people rewarded it with trust.

👉 First, gain trust. Reward is just the byproduct.

2/ Quality over Quantity

iD has been in business for more years than the SKUs on its website.

19 years in the game & just 16 SKUs!

(And when I went to their website to check this out, of the 16 SKUs, 2 separate SKUs were white and brown bread 😂)

👉 Getting fewer things right is always better than spreading yourself thin with multiple products.

3/ Efficiency

iD is not a batter company.

iD is a food distribution company powered by common sense.

Rather than waiting for the fermentation and then delivering the batter, they simply allow the fermentation to happen while in transit in cold storage trucks 🤯

This saves time, and customers gets their products as fresh as possible.

👉 Sometimes, the answer is in front of you – you just need to be in a clear state of mind to identify it.

I’m a massive fan of such home-grown entrepreneurs who make it despite all odds.

There is so much to learn from them!

Hats off to Musthafa P. and the intelligent folks at iD Fresh Food (India) Pvt. Ltd. From innovative packaging to eye-catching marketing campaigns – you guys truly know your customer.
