B̶h̶a̶i̶y̶a Didi Auto 🛺

A true mark for economic progress is 2 things:

i) How the most backward community is progressing
ii) Participation of women in the workforce

I was driving on the street of Jayanagar when I saw a woman driving an auto.

At first glance, everything seemed quite normal. It took me 10 seconds to realize that a female auto driver was not typical.

I rolled my windows down and spoke with her during the 2-minute red light.

She told me she was making between ₹1,000 – ₹3,000 daily & loved every moment of driving!

When I asked her what the best part about her job was, she said that whenever she picks a female passenger, they always have a broad smile, which lights up her day.

The ability to enable people like Savitri didi is my next mission. With Swadesh, we will make capital goods accessible to millions of Indians.

India’s wealth is its young population, but most young Indians are far from wealthy. 42.5% of people under the age of 25 are unemployed!

Why?

↳ Can’t find jobs based on skill
↳ Wage demands
↳ High Aspiration

Getting jobs for 50 million unemployed Indians… it’s just not possible.

Additionally, India’s GDP is growing at 6% per annum.

Assuming growth and population remain the same, our per capita income in 2047 will be $10,000, which is less than China’s per capita income today.

In other words, by 24 years, we won’t be where China is today.

Our biggest asset, our population, will start to decrease after 24 years, so we might end up becoming old before becoming wealthy.

Swadesh will directly address this obstacle and insert 50 million ‘Atmanirbhar’ micro-entrepreneurs, improving GDP growth.

Be prepared to see a massive influx of self-reliant micro-entrepreneurs flooding our streets!

In fact, a key focus for Swadesh will also be to make mother-in-laws self-reliant because female participation in the workforce tends to increase by 70% if the mother-in-law of the family is employed.

More power to Savitri didi and all the other didis driving autos to support their families – I hope seeing female auto drivers becomes the new normal.
